Today an article about what equipment is worth investing in at a beauty salon. If you have recently opened your own practice (or are just planning to), this post is specifically for you. Enjoy the read.

Cosmetic accessories vs. cosmetic equipment

I will not list specialized devices such as a hair removal laser, pedicure machine, or IPL – I will rather focus on basic accessories that will work in any beauty salon. Why don’t I want to list professional equipment? Because maybe you are planning to open a salon with pedicures and manicures, and I would be recommending radiofrequency devices or endermologie suits. That makes no sense.
If you are looking for advice on professional equipment – follow my blog. I am planning to launch a series of articles describing specialized equipment for beauty salons soon.

Cosmetic accessories worth investing in

Alright, then let’s go with the list:

    • Towels and sheets. You can never have too many of them. Instead of bothering your head with constantly washing your current towels and sheets, invest in a few new ones.
    • Head pillows. This is a nice addition not only for beauty salons where treatments are performed lying down. This type of pillow will also be great for clients who are in a sitting position.
    • Cosmetic chairs and stools. Although the key words here should be comfortable chairs and stools. If your clients are uncomfortable during the treatment or while waiting in the waiting room, well… they will remember it. And rather not very positively.
    • Mirrors. They look great and are extremely useful. If you have some money saved up and want to refresh the look of your beauty salon, decorate the walls with chic mirrors.
    • Lighting lamps. Regardless of the cosmetic treatments performed – good lighting always plays the first fiddle. Do not spare a dime on lamps, and your work will become much more pleasant.
    • Trash cans. Believe me – working in a beauty salon is not a “clean job”. Therefore, it is better to put a few trash cans in your workplace beforehand, so you won’t have to look for that one single bin every time.
    • Oils, creams, lotions, perfumes. Here the field to show off is quite wide. You can be sure that if you let your client use a fragrant perfume or a rejuvenating face cream to say goodbye, your salon will stick in her memory positively.
To tell the truth, I could go on like this forever. There are plenty of ways to make your work easier and decorate your beauty salon. However, I will stop here, because I would like to bite the topic from a slightly different angle too.

Furniture accessories in your beauty salon

Personally, I also include some furniture in the accessories category. It’s true that in the previous point I already mentioned, for example, chairs and stools, but now I would like to move on to slightly “heavier” equipment that should work well in all beauty salons. This is:

    • A cabinet for cosmetic tools. At first glance, it might seem that it will only unnecessarily take up space. After all, tools can be kept on a table or the first better shelf. But trust me that this is a wrong approach, and such a cabinet will come in handy sooner or later.
    • A medical screen. Seriously, it’s worth having even when the treatments you perform don’t have much to do with nudity. It will add a dose of comfort and privacy to your clients, and the visit to the beauty salon will go much more pleasantly.
    • A chair with a massage function. You’ve probably seen such a marvel in shopping malls more than once. Put a similar invention in your waiting room and let your clients use it at will. Even waiting for your turn can be pleasant!
Generally (if you only have enough space for it) the more furniture, the more comfortable it is for you. Towels, sheets, cosmetic tools… you have to store all this somewhere. There is quite a lot of it and it’s really easy to create quite a mess in your practice. So if my above suggestions didn’t appeal to you, take care of your comfort and order an extra cabinet for accessories. Of course, be careful not to clutter yourself. A beauty salon needs space!

Why is it worth investing in cosmetic accessories in the salon?

First of all, focus on making cosmetic accessories help you in your work, and not just look nice. Always put functionality first, and only then visual aspects. Working in a beauty parlor seems to be easy, but without auxiliary accessories, it is really easy to get lost.
In addition, accessories in a beauty salon will allow you to:

    • Improve the comfort of clients, making them more willing to return to you in the future.
    • Increase the salon’s competitiveness by following industry news.
    • Refresh the look of the practice, so you won’t fall into a routine.
Besides – it is much more profitable to invest money in your salon instead of waiting for inflation to absorb half of their value.

Now you know what accessories to invest in

As I wrote at the very beginning of the article – here I tried to touch on the subject very generally. Later this month, I intend to start regularly publishing posts about the most popular professional devices used in beauty salons. So if you care more about expert knowledge than inspiration, visit my blog every Thursday at 2:00 PM. I also strongly encourage you to read my other guides from the “how to run a beauty salon better” series.
